Electronic Program Guides are one of our secret skillsets. going back to the mid-nineties when we got involved in the UK cable industry's EPG challenge to Sky, and the production of the online and interactive television guide for the BBC's Radio Times, we have been involved in some of the most influential cornerstone EPG projects in the world.
In Australia, Jennifer ran the EPG listings company HWW which provides the television listings information for most of the EPGs in Australia, and Guy produced the fabulous EPG for FOXTEL when it launched its digital service.
Out most recent EPG is the design and user interface work for Australia's Freeview. The design is subtle, easy to use, and was tested by Guy's 90-year old grandparents for usability and on-screen legibility.
EPG design work is a beautifully technical piece of design work. Colour palettes are reduced, images need to be super-optimised and the remote control interface must be thoughts of at all times. This is not microsite build!
The Freeview EPG is resident in all Freeview branded set-top boxes and televisions and is the core interface for all free-to-air television channels in Australia.
