The Project Factory, Australia's leading multiplatform production company, today announced the opening of its UK headquarters in London to build on its growth in the international transmedia market.
Heading up the UK team is Kirsty Hunter, joining from her previous role as Head of Interactive for Lion Television.
Project Factory Director, Guy Gadney, said: "Transmedia is the place where storytelling, audience engagement and new revenue streams meet and play. We know that UK broadcasters are looking for entertainment projects that are creatively and commercially sound. We focus on the business models as well as the entertainment concepts, so it makes sense for us to establish a London hub where we can produce these projects for a market that is hungry for these experiences.
"On our slate at the moment are locative mobile games, casual Facebook games, online documentaries and 3D games and worlds that include new ways for people to interact in these spaces.
"We have a number of digital co-productions with television and film producers across a broad genre spread, and the aim is singular: to produce digital entertainment that matches the TV experience while exploring the new commercial models that might apply here.
"Kirsty is a fantastic multi-platform producer and is well positioned to build on the value that we provide to our broadcast partners and production companies. Her successes such as the International Emmy Award-winning Britain From Above are exactly the style and substance that we look to create in our productions."
Kirsty Hunter commented: "The Project Factory has a fantastic reputation in Europe and Australia for innovative and successful digital projects across a range of different platforms. The time is right in the UK for a new wave of energy and ideas to hit the broadcast industry and I believe that The Project Factory is in a unique position to deliver across mobile, online, games, social media and 3D worlds".
"With the advent of connected television, explosion of the apps market and the rise and rise of games, now is the perfect time to create a new digital production powerhouse in the UK."
The Project Factory UK is open for business, and will be formally celebrated at MIPTV on April 4th in Cannes.
